All checked in at 3:43am for a 6am flight, sitting at the McDonalds mostly filled not with hungry patrons but sleeping passengers. We are just waiting for the time to pass. ‘Hurry up and wait’ as they say.
We rushed to get all of our bags packed, cleaned up and went downstairs of the large residence complex we stayed in, Putra Majestic, to wait for our taxi.
Hurry up and wait.
So we ordered some bottled water and myself a freshly squeezed lemon juice to drink while we waited for our ride to arrive. Not quite two minutes after ordering we were told our taxi was here. The bottled waters were easy enough to pack away and throw in the trunk; but my lemon juice was in a glass fashioned in such a way that is typically used to serve malts. So I hold it up to the shop worker and asked for ‘take away’ expecting a plastic or possibly even styrofoam contraption. Instead I was handed what you see pictured. A bag full of my drink with a straw sticking out of the top. Delicious and unique- my kinda drink.
Next thing I know the taxi driver was whisking us away to the airport. The mostly empty highway made it easy for him to zip around turns and cruise at a steady speed. We got there in a little under and hour and for just 100 ringgit (about $40). Not too bad.
Once at the airport, we took a look at the departure board for our flight to Colombo and made our way to the check-in counter. Now, here we sit until boarding time in 2 hours. Hurry up and wait indeed.
